The climate of Williamsport (Pennsylvania - United States of America)
Williamsport is a small city located centrally in the state of Pennsylvania in Lycoming County. Williamsport is known internationally as the birthplace of Little League Baseball. The region has been inhabited since the end of the 18th century; the city was founded at the beginning of the 19th century. In the 1930s a baseball tournament for the children of the city was organized. This became such a success that it became an annual event. Nowadays this event is organized in more than 80 countries and more than 200,000 teams compete in it. Williamsport has a warm continental climate characterized by pleasantly warm summers and cold winters. Precipitation is quite evenly spread out over the year. During the winter precipitation may fall in the form of snow or sleet. During the winter longer periods with subzero temperatures (during the night) are not uncommon. Williamsport has four distinct seasons.
