The climate of Woonsocket (Rhode Island
- United States of America)
Woonsocke is located in the northern part of Rhode Island in the
vicinity of the border with the state of Massachusetts. Woonsocket is
located on the banks of the Blackstone River in the Providence
metropolitan area. With the Blackstone River providing more than
enough water power, the region became a prime location for textile
mills during the Industrial Revolution.
Despite its location in the vicinity of the Atlantic Ocean Woonsocket
has a warm continental climate. Winters are cold here. Summers are
pleasantly warm but wet. Precipitation is quite evenly spread out over
the year. During the winter most precipitation falls in the form of
snow.
