The climate of Austin (Texas - United States of America)
Austin is the capital of the state of Texas and is located on the banks of the Colorado River. Where population figures are concerned Austin is the fourth largest city in Texas. Austin is an important city in the high tech sector. Technology companies have created many jobs here. These companies have settled here as a cheaper alternative to Silicon Valley. Austin is known for its many universities. Austin has a warm maritime climate type Cfa according to the Köppen climate classification. The climate of Austin is characterized by hot summers in which warm winds may blow that come from the Gulf of Mexico. Winters are mild. However, occasionally it may get very cold during the winter. During the winter average maximum temperatures are between 15 and 18 degrees Celsius (59-65 degrees Fahrenheit). Subzero temperatures and snowfall are uncommon. On average only 1.5 centimeters of annual snowfall can be recorded. In practice this means Austin gets a few centimeters of snowfall once every few years.
