The climate of McAllen (Texas - United States of America)
McAllen is a large city located in the southern part of the state of Texas in the Rio Grande Valley. McAllen is located in the vicinity of the border with Mexico. The Rio Grande forms the natural border with Mexico here. The Gulf of Mexico can be found just under 100 kilometers east of the city. The city of Reynosa is located across the Mexican border. The University of Texas Pan-American and South Texas College are located In the urban area of the city. McAllen has a warm maritime climate strongly influenced by the Gulf of Mexico. Because of this longer periods with subzero temperatures are uncommon. Average precipitation figures are lower here than in the northern part of Texas. During the summer it may be very warm. Average temperatures during the summer are 36 degrees Celsius (97 degrees Fahrenheit). Peaks in temperatures above 40 degrees Celsius (104 degrees Fahrenheit) are not uncommon.
