The climate of Charleston (West Virginia - United States of America)
Charleston is the capital of the state of West Virginia. The city is located at an altitude of 182 meters at the junction of the Kanawha River and the Elk River. Charleston is located on the spot where a warm continental climate (type Dfa according to the Köppen climate classification) changes into a warm maritime climate (type Cfa). Temperatures are higher in Charleston than in other cities in the region. Winters are cool, real cold is uncommon. Summers are warm to hot. During spring precipitation patterns are erratic. Fall, with pleasant daytime temperatures and low precipitation figures is often seen as the most pleasant season in Charleston.
