The climate of Cheyenne (Wyoming
- United States of America)
Cheyenne is the capital of the state of Wyoming. Cheyenne is located
at an altitude of more than 1,800 meters above sea level in the
southeastern part of Wyoming. Cheyenne is part of the Front Range
Urban Corridor which is a region east to the Front Range of the Rocky
Mountains. Over the past few centuries this region has undergone a
good deal of urbanization.
Cheyenne has a cold steppe climate (type BSk according to the Köppen
climate classification) with 400 millimeters of annual precipitation.
Winters are cool and long. During the winter subzero temperatures
during the night are not uncommon. In December and January subzero
temperatures can also be recorded during the day. Cheyenne gets about
150 centimeters of annual snowfall. However, a thick blanket of snow
is uncommon because of periods with thaw. Summers in Cheyenne are
pleasantly warm with daytime temperatures between 24-31 degrees
Celsius (75-88 degrees Fahrenheit). In June, July and August peaks in
temperatures of 35 degrees Celsius (95 degrees Fahrenheit) can be
recorded occasionally.

More climate information
Climate figures are very useful but don’t present a general impression
of the climate and the eventual weather circumstances within a certain
period. The figures don’t always reflect the chance of wintry weather,
extreme heat or hurricanes. That is why we offer useful extra climate
information for each month of the year:
