The climate of Gillette (Wyoming
- United States of America)
Gillette is a medium-sized city located in the northeastern part of
the state of Wyoming. Gillette is centrally located in Campbell
County. Gillette is the self-proclaimed Energy Capital of the Nation,
mainly because of the large amounts of gas, oil and coal fields.
Gillette is located between the Big Horn Mountains to the west and the
Black Hills to the east.
Gillette has a cold steppe climate with higher precipitation figures
than in most places in Wyoming. Most precipitation falls during early
summer. During the summer temperatures may reach tropical values.
However, during the evening temperatures rapidly drop and nights are
cool in general. During the winter periods with subzero temperatures
(during the night) are not uncommon. Temperatures of -20 degrees
Celsius (-4 degrees Fahrenheit) are not uncommon.

More climate information
Climate figures are very useful but don’t present a general impression
of the climate and the eventual weather circumstances within a certain
period. The figures don’t always reflect the chance of wintry weather,
extreme heat or hurricanes. That is why we offer useful extra climate
information for each month of the year:
