The climate of Uruzgan (Afghanistan)
Uruzgan is a province in the middle of Afghanistan in the foothills of
the Hindu Kush mountain range. Tarin Kowt is the capital of the
Uruzgan province. Uruzgan is best known for the peace mission that
took place here. Uruzgan has about 300,000 inhabitants, mostly small
communities and traveling nomads.
Because of large geographical
differences Uruzgan has several climate types. In general you can
speak of a cold steppe climate. Summers are warm and very dry. During
the warmest days temperatures above 40 degrees are not uncommon.
Winters are cold, especially at higher altitudes. Subzero temperatures
are not uncommon. On average more rain falls during this period. In
some cases snow may fall.
