The climate of San Miguel de Tucumán (Argentina)
San Miguel de Tucumán is located in the north western part of Argentina in the Andean foothills at an altitude of 450 meters. It is situated on the banks of the Dulce River. San Miguel de Tucumán is usually shortened to Tucumán. The city is located in the San Miguel de Tucumán province of which it also is the capital. The city has several beautiful churches and basilicas. The Our Lady of Mercy and the San Francisco Basilica are the best known. In the old part of the city several Art Nouveau buildings can be found.
San Miguel de Tucumán has a moderate climate with a distinct summer and winter. The summer period is from October till April. During this period temperatures are pleasant to hot. Winters are short and mild and snow is uncommon. During the summer most of the rain falls. Winters are reasonably dry. About 850 mm of rain falls during this period annually. In the higher regions in the Andes temperatures are much lower. Subzero temperatures and snow are not uncommon.
