The climate of Salzburg (Austria)
Salzburg has a population of 150,000 and is the fourth largest city in Austria. The city is located on the banks of the river Salzach and borders Germany. Mozart was born in Salzburg; during the summer the Salzburger Festspiele are held, one of the most famous classical music festivals. The entire city center of Salzburg is a Unesco world heritage site. Many baroque buildings can be admired here, among them are the cathedral and the Hohensalzburg castle. Another attraction is the Von Trapp house, known from the musical ‘The sound of Music’. Salzburg is well worth visiting because of the many sights the city has to offer. Salzburg has a continental climate with mild winters and pleasant but wet summers. Precipitation figures are high all year round with a peak in June and July.
