The climate of Flemish Ardennes (Belgium)
The Flemish Ardennes have little to do with the more famous Walloon Ardennes. It is called the Flemish Ardennes because of the hilly landscape which is famous with racing cyclists, mountain bikers and walkers. The region is situated in east Flanders between Ghent and the French border. The following places are part of this region: Oudenaarde, Zottegem, Ronse and Geraardsbergen. Because of the Hotondberg, the Oudenberg and the Kluisberg annual racing cycling classics are held here. Even the Tour de France came through this region once. The Flemish Ardennes have a moderate rainy climate strongly influenced by the Warm Gulf Stream from the Atlantic Ocean. Summers are rather wet. Winters are pleasantly mild.
