The climate of Santa Cruz de la Sierra (Bolivia)
Santa Cruz de la Sierra  which means holy cross of the mountain was founded by Ñuflo de Chávez. It is one of the many cities this Spanish conquistador founded in South America. Santa Cruz de la Sierra is one of the wealthiest cities in Bolivia. Much of the old colonial architecture can still be found here such as the cathedral and the basilica. Santa Cruz de la Sierra has a tropical Savannah climate. In terms of vegetation this type of climate is a mixture of a tropical rainforest climate and a steppe climate. Because there is less rainfall the vegetation is less dense here. Temperatures are above 18 degrees Celsius on average.
