The climate of Fortaleza (Brazil)
Fortaleza is located in the north-eastern part of Brazil and is the capital of the federal state of Ceára. The city was founded by the Dutch as Fort Schoonenborch. The pleasant climate and the large sandy beaches attract many tourists. During the day you can enjoy the sun and the ocean on 25 kilometers of beaches. During the evening you can enjoy the beautiful sunset. You may even get lucky and spot a dolphin in the dusk. In 2014 Fortaleza is one of the host cities for the soccer world championship. Fortaleza has a tropical climate with a wet and a dry season and high temperatures as well as high humidity figures all year round. The climate is much more pleasant here than in the interior because of an ever blowing sea wind. Fortaleza gets about 1,378 millimeters of rain per year; most of which falls during the first six months of the year. This makes the climate rather unique. Winters are dry, rainfall is scarce then.

More climate information
Climate figures are very useful but don’t present a general impression of the climate and the eventual weather circumstances within a certain period. The figures don’t always reflect the chance of wintry weather, extreme heat or hurricanes. That is why we offer useful extra climate information for each month of the year:
