The climate of Manaus (Brazil)
Manaus is a large city located in the northern part of Brazil and is the capital of the state of Amazonas. Manaus is situated near the place where the rivers Rio Negro and Rio Solimões flow into each other to continue as the Amazon River; this is also called the Encontro das Águas. This is a unique natural phenomenon because the Rio Negro is black and the Rio Solimões is clear. Because both the temperature of the water and the speed in which they flow are different the water doesn’t mix. The two rivers run side by side for 6 kilometers creating a river with a dark side and a clear side. Manaus is one of the host cities for the soccer world championship in 2014. Manaus has a tropical rainforest climate without a dry period. There is much rainfall all year round with a peak during the summer. The climate is influenced by the rainforest. The combination of large amounts of rainfall and high humidity figures may give rise to a muggy feel. Because of the rainforest there are no extremes in the climate here. The highest temperature on record is 37 degrees Celsius. The lowest temperature on record is 13 degrees Celsius.

More climate information
Climate figures are very useful but don’t present a general impression of the climate and the eventual weather circumstances within a certain period. The figures don’t always reflect the chance of wintry weather, extreme heat or hurricanes. That is why we offer useful extra climate information for each month of the year:
