The climate of New Brunswick (Canada)
New Brunswick has several tourist attractions such as the historical city of St. Andrew’s, the different species of whales that can be spotted from the coast and the reversing waterfall at St John’s. The reversing waterfall is actually a rapid water flow. The rapidly rising diurnal tides of the bay force the flow of water to reverse against the prevailing current at this location when the tide is high. You can go on a boat trip to spot this phenomenon from up close. New Brunswick has a continental climate. In comparison to a maritime climate a continental climate has an early spring and the autumn is shorter. There are large differences in temperature, from day to day and between the seasons. This type of climate gets more snow, but less precipitation. During the summer the air is warm with sometimes warm and moist currents from the Gulf of Mexico. This has a somewhat tempering effect on the spring and temperatures during the summer which are a little milder than in other parts of Canada. July is the warmest month with temperatures of 25 degrees on average. Winters are cold with extreme temperatures of -30 degrees Celsius during the coldest days of the year.

More climate information
Climate figures are very useful but don’t present a general impression of the climate and the eventual weather circumstances within a certain period. The figures don’t always reflect the chance of wintry weather, extreme heat or hurricanes. That is why we offer useful extra climate information for each month of the year:
