The climate of Tianjin (China)
Tianjin is a large metropolis located in the north-eastern part of China. The city is an important port and is situated on a fordable place in the Hai He River. The city is connected to the Yellow and the Yangtze River by a channel. The Gulf of Bohai connects the city to the Yellow Sea. This makes Tianjin an important junction for transport and industry in China. Tianjin has a climate with four distinct seasons. The climate is very wet because of the monsoon. Winters are dry, cold and windy because of the influence of the Siberian winds. Because of the drought during winter sandstorms may form during spring. Most precipitation falls in July and August. Tianjin is situated in a transitional area of three large climate types CWA, DWA and BSK according to the Köppen climate classification.
