The climate of Liberia (Costa Rica)
Liberia is the capital of the Gunacaste region. Liberia has its
own airport, because of this it is often used as a starting point for
a visit to Costa Rica. The cities of Tamarindo and Papagayo are in the
vicinity. The volcanic region and the Monteverde Forest are just a few
hours away by car. The city itself is well worth visiting too. It is
very pleasant to stroll through the city and taste the Costa Rican
cuisine. The city is situated on the coast and has a pleasant
atmosphere. Liberia has a tropical savannah climate. Average
temperatures are above 18 degrees Celsius all year round. The tropical
savannah climate has a distinct dry period. The tropical savannah
climate can be classified as a transitional climate between a tropical
rainforest climate and a desert climate. Most rain falls during the
summer; winters are much drier.

More climate information
Climate figures are very useful but don’t present a general impression
of the climate and the eventual weather circumstances within a certain
period. The figures don’t always reflect the chance of wintry weather,
extreme heat or hurricanes. That is why we offer useful extra climate
information for each month of the year:
