The climate of Puerto Limon (Costa Rica)
Puerto Limon was founded by Christopher Columbus in 1502 when he was
exploring Central America. The port has been used for the
transportation of bananas and wheat since 1870. Peurto Limon is
situated in the vicinity of Brauilo Carillo National Park. Tortuguero
National Park and Cahuita National Park are situated at an hour away
by car. Puerto Limon has a tropical monsoon climate. This type of
climate is characterized by heavy showers. Almost every month
precipitation figures are high. However, this doesn’t mean it rains
all day. Especially during the afternoon and early evening heavy
showers can be expected. The temperature of the air and the
temperature of the sea are pleasant and constant all year round.
