The climate of Copenhagen (Denmark)
Copenhagen is the capital of Denmark and is located in the eastern
part of the country on the Sont. Copenhagen is the biggest city in
Denmark and the most popular among tourists. Several attractions can
be enjoyed in the city such as The Little Mermaid and Tivoli
Amusement park. Freetown Christiania is also located in Copenhagen.
Since 1971 this has been a self proclaimed autonomous neighborhood.
Different rules apply to this city which include a ban on motorized
vehicles. Copenhagen has a cool maritime climate (type Cfb according
to the Köppen climate classification) with precipitation all year
round. Winters are cool and summers are moderate. However, in July
and August temperatures may easily rise above 20 degrees Celsius (68
degrees Fahrenheit). Precipitation is quite evenly spread out over
the year. During the winter longer periods with subzero temperatures
(during the night) are not uncommon.

More climate information
Climate figures are very useful but don’t present a general impression
of the climate and the eventual weather circumstances within a certain
period. The figures don’t always reflect the chance of wintry weather,
extreme heat or hurricanes. That is why we offer useful extra climate
information for each month of the year:
