The climate of Esbjerg (Denmark)
Esbjerg is a large city located in the Southern Denmark region on the
Jutland Peninsula. The city is located in the southwestern part of
the peninsula on the North Sea. The city is also the largest port of
the country. Ferries sail from here to the Danish island of Fano,
Harwich in England and to Tórshavn which is the capital of the Faroe
Islands. Originally it was a fishing port. However, nowadays it is
the most important offshore port in Denmark. Esbjerg has a moderate
maritime climate strongly influenced by the North Sea. Because of
its location in the southwestern part of the country the city is
located in one of the warmest regions in Denmark. However,
temperatures are not much different from those in other regions in
the country. During the winter subzero temperatures do not occur as
often here as in other regions in Denmark. Precipitation figures are
highest during the winter. During the coldest days of the year
precipitation falls in the form of sleet or snow.

More climate information
Climate figures are very useful but don’t present a general impression
of the climate and the eventual weather circumstances within a certain
period. The figures don’t always reflect the chance of wintry weather,
extreme heat or hurricanes. That is why we offer useful extra climate
information for each month of the year:
