The climate of Odense (Denmark)
Odense is the third largest city in Denmark after Copenhagen and Arhus. The city is located on Funen Island in the Syddanmark (South Denmark) region. Hans Christian Andersen was born in Odense, several attractions commemorating his life and works can be visited here. Other attractions in the city include Odense Zoo and Den Fynske Landsby Open Air Museum. Odense is an old city in which you can admire old Scandinavian architecture. The city was named after the Germanic God Odin. Odense has a maritime climate mainly influenced by the North Sea. Summers are cool, winters are moderate with average temperatures around freezing point. Bear in mind that fierce winds are not uncommon here. Precipitation is quite evenly spread out over the year. During the coldest days precipitation falls in the form of snow or sleet.

More climate information
Climate figures are very useful but don’t present a general impression of the climate and the eventual weather circumstances within a certain period. The figures don’t always reflect the chance of wintry weather, extreme heat or hurricanes. That is why we offer useful extra climate information for each month of the year:
