The climate of Ribe (Denmark)
Ribe is a city in located in southwest Jutland. Ribe used to be the seat of both the surrounding municipality and the county. Nowadays it is part of the Esbjerg Municipality in the Southern Denmark region. The city was founded in 710 and is said to be the oldest town in Scandinavia. Ribe is very popular among tourists who travel here to admire the old timber frame houses and visit Riber Viking Center. This open air museum is the main attraction in the city. Ribe has a moderate maritime climate with fairly mild winters and sunny summers. Precipitation is quite evenly spread out over the year with fall as the wettest period and spring as the driest period. Because of the influence of the North Sea extremes in weather are uncommon in Ribe. During the summer average daytime temperatures are just above 20 degrees Celsius (68 degrees Fahrenheit). During the winter longer periods with subzero temperatures during the night are not uncommon.

More climate information
Climate figures are very useful but don’t present a general impression of the climate and the eventual weather circumstances within a certain period. The figures don’t always reflect the chance of wintry weather, extreme heat or hurricanes. That is why we offer useful extra climate information for each month of the year:
