The climate of Cabarete (Dominican Republic)
Cabarete is a popular holiday destination on the east coast of the Dominican Republic. Cabarete is very popular with water sport enthusiasts because of the steady consistent easterly wind. Cabarete is a little bit smaller than other tourist destinations in this region. Cabarete is a 30-minute drive from Puerto Plata airport. Cabarete attracts many kite boarders, wind surfers, wake boarders, divers and mountain bikers. Whoever wants to take it a little slower can go golfing on the golf course. Swimming with dolphins is popular as well. The local bars and discos organize large events on a regular basis. They want to attract younger people.
Cabarete has a tropical rainforest climate. All of the tropics have this type of climate. This type of climate is characterized by large amounts of rainfall in some periods and a relatively dry period. During the summer humidity figures may rise. This is caused by the combination of large amounts of rain and high temperatures. However, this is weakened by an ever present eastern wind. The early summer months are the most popular with tourists. During the summer months tropical storms and hurricanes may occur.
