The climate of Alexandria (Egypt)
Alexandria is located in the northern part of Egypt on the north western tip of the Nile delta. Because the city is located on the Mediterranean Sea it is wetter and slightly cooler than other parts of Egypt. On average 200 millimeters of rain falls per year, while the larger part of Egypt hardly gets any rain at all. Most of the rain falls from October till March. During other months Alexandria is just as dry as the rest of Egypt. Temperatures here are also at a different level than in the interior of the country and along the coastline of the Red Sea. During the winter it doesn’t get too warm with temperatures of around or just below 20 degrees Celsius. During the summers temperatures are around or just above 30 degrees Celsius. During the July and August humidity figures may rise which causes a muggy feel. Many tourists find Alexandria’s climate far more pleasant than warmer places such as Cairo and Luxor.

More climate information
Climate figures are very useful but don’t present a general impression of the climate and the eventual weather circumstances within a certain period. The figures don’t always reflect the chance of wintry weather, extreme heat or hurricanes. That is why we offer useful extra climate information for each month of the year:
