The climate of Lot-et-Garonne (France)
The French department of Lot et Garonne is an extension piece of the Dordogne. The region is known for its many orchards, which of course says something about the climate. The summers are warm there and the spring already starts early in the year, therefore the sun can shine on the fruit for quite a number of months. It is not until November that it gets a bit colder. The temperature does not drop very much in the winter. Lot et Garonne is an extremely varied region with many watercourses, the area is very well navigable. Lourdes is a well known place of pilgrimage in the department of Pyrénées-Atlantique. The village with more pilgrims than inhabitants is situated at the foot of the Pyrénées and that is why the climate is strongly influenced by this range of mountains. Because Lourdes is situated on the weather-side of the mountain precipitation often stays over Lourdes. This is the reason that it often rains here. However this will keep few pilgrims from visiting this holy place.
