The climate of Jenoi (Gambia)
Jenoi is a small city located in central Gambia in the Jarra West District in the Upper River region. Because of its situation close to the river there is a high risk of malaria in this region. Just like the rest of the Jarra West district Jenoi has a tropical savannah climate with temperatures easily exceeding 40 degrees Celsius during the hottest days. The year can be divided into two parts; a dry season and a wet season. The dry period is from the second part of October till the second part of June. This period is characterized by warm or even hot days. The Harmattan makes it even feel warmer. This wind carries sand from the Sahara and the Sahel sometimes limiting vision to less than 50 meters. The rainy period is from the second part of June till the second part of October with August as the wettest month.
