The climate of Kiel (Germany)
Kiel is a port on the Baltic Sea. Everything in the city is about the sea and the port. The town hall tower offers a beautiful views of the town. From the tower you can see the Hörnbrucke (bridge) and the railway port. It is very pleasant to stroll through the city and along the Hindenburg Mile. The surroundings offer many attractions as well. From Kiel you can visit several fiords, museums and natural reserves. Kiel has a moderate maritime climate strongly influenced by the warm Gulf Stream in the Atlantic Ocean and North Sea. Because of this extremes in weather are uncommon and differences in temperatures between the seasons are small. During the winter only several days with subzero temperatures can be recorded. During the summer temperatures may rise to a pleasant 30 degrees Celsius (86 degrees Fahrenheit). Precipitation figures are highest during spring and fall.

More climate information
Climate figures are very useful but don’t present a general impression of the climate and the eventual weather circumstances within a certain period. The figures don’t always reflect the chance of wintry weather, extreme heat or hurricanes. That is why we offer useful extra climate information for each month of the year:
