The climate of Lesbos (Greece)
Lesbos is a Greek island situated in the Aegean Sea and part of
the North Aegean islands. Lesbos is not far from the Turkish coast.
The capital of Lesbos is Mytilini. The cities of Molyvos, Petra and
Skala Kalloni are very popular among tourists who spend their holiday
on Lesbos. In the north west of the island a petrified forest can be
found in the vicinity of Sigri. A Byzantine castle and an amphitheater
can be found in Mytilini. Lesbos has a warm Mediterranean climate
strongly influenced by the Aegean Sea. Summers are warm and dry.
During the hottest part of the day temperatures often rise to 40
degrees Celsius. An ever blowing sea wind offers some refreshing
moments. Winters are cold and wet which makes this island unsuitable
as a winter sun destination.

More climate information
Climate figures are very useful but don’t present a general impression
of the climate and the eventual weather circumstances within a certain
period. The figures don’t always reflect the chance of wintry weather,
extreme heat or hurricanes. That is why we offer useful extra climate
information for each month of the year:
