The climate of Naxos (Greece)
The island of Naxos is part of the Greek Cycladic archipelago. Mount Zas and its mountain range dominate the skyline of the island. The highest summit of this mountain range is at 1,000 meters. The capital of the island is Naxos city, also known as Chora. One of the most striking buildings on the island is the Portára. This is the entrance to the temple of Apollon, which was never built. The most popular seaside resorts of Naxos are Agios Prokopios, Agios Anna and Plaka. Naxos has a Mediterranean climate with warm and dry summers and cold and wet winters. During the winter large amounts of rain can be expected. During the winter temperatures are too low to make the island suitable as a winter sun destination. Summers are warm, sometimes even hot. On the coast an ever blowing sea breeze offers some cooling during the hottest days of the year.

More climate information
Climate figures are very useful but don’t present a general impression of the climate and the eventual weather circumstances within a certain period. The figures don’t always reflect the chance of wintry weather, extreme heat or hurricanes. That is why we offer useful extra climate information for each month of the year:
