The climate of Zakynthos (Greece)
Zakynthos is an island west of Greece and is part of the Ionian Islands. Zakynthos is situated in the Ionian Sea. The island has a hilly landscape; its highest point is Vrachionas at 700 meters. Zante is the capital of the island and is also known as Zakynthos-City. Off Zaakynthos’ coast the smaller island of Marathonissi is situated. This island is also known as turtle island because the Caretta Caretta Turtle lay their eggs here on the beach. Zakynthos has a warm Mediterranean climate with warm and dry summers and colder and wetter winters. Summers are warm, sometimes even hot. During the hottest days of the year the best place to be is in the shade in the vicinity of the sea.
