The climate of Messina (Italy)
Messina is located near the northeast corner of Sicily, at the Strait of Messina, just opposite Villa San Giovanni on the mainland. There is a lot of traffic in Messina because of the ferry ports here. However, there are plans to build a bridge across the Strait of Messina. In 1955 the ministers for foreign affairs decided to found the European Economic Union in Messina. A national and a zoological museum can be found in Messina. The cathedral of Messina is also well worth visiting. In the seas surrounding Messina many swordfish are caught. Messina has a Mediterranean Sea climate with pleasant but wet winters. Summers are warm. During the summer a Sirocco may blow. This is a warm wind from the Sahara which causes temperatures to rise considerably.
