The climate of Kanazawa (Japan)
Kanazawa is the capital of the IshikawaIshikawa prefecture en is located on the island of Honsu. Because Kanazawa is situated on the Japanese Sea it has always been a centre of trade. Because the city wasn’t bombed during WWII many old buildings can still be admired. The Kanazawa castle, Ninja-dera and many old commercial buildings can still be admired. High and narrow buildings where very popular during that time because taxes were levied on the width of the frontage of a building. These buildings can be found in the former commercial suburb of Owari-cho.
Kanazawa has a warm sea climate. The city gets a lot of rain. Humidity figures may rise up to 73% and there are 178 rainy days per year on average. Especially during the autumn and winter a lot of rain can be expected; 250 mm per month on average. During the winter temperatures are mild. Subzero temperatures are uncommon. The summer months are moderate as well. However, temperatures of 35 degrees Celsius do occur on the hottest days of the year.

More climate information
Climate figures are very useful but don’t present a general impression of the climate and the eventual weather circumstances within a certain period. The figures don’t always reflect the chance of wintry weather, extreme heat or hurricanes. That is why we offer useful extra climate information for each month of the year:
