The climate of Kisumu (Kenya)
Kisumu is a large city located in the southwestern part of Kenya in the province of Nyanza on Lake Victoria. Kisumu is situated on the Uganda railway. The city has always been an important trading post; cotton, fish and sugar are mainly traded here. The most popular attractions in the city are the Kisumu museum and the Kit-Mikayi rock formations. Just outside the city an Impala reserve is situated, large numbers of Impalas live here, every now and then a hippo is spotted.
Kisumu has a tropical rainforest climate with high precipitation figures all year round. There are two distinct rainy periods. However, during the period in between reasonable amounts of precipitation fall as well. Daytime temperatures are 30 degrees on average. Night time temperatures are much lower, 15 degrees Celsius on average. The climate of Kisumu benefits from Lake Victoria.

More climate information
Climate figures are very useful but don’t present a general impression of the climate and the eventual weather circumstances within a certain period. The figures don’t always reflect the chance of wintry weather, extreme heat or hurricanes. That is why we offer useful extra climate information for each month of the year:
