The climate of de Biesbosch (the Netherlands)
De Biesbosch is a national park separating the provinces of
North-Brabant and South-Holland. The park is situated between the
Boven-Merwede River and the Amer River. It is one of the last
freshwater tidal areas in Europe. The Biesbosch consists of a rather
large network of rivers and smaller and larger creeks with islands.
The area can be divided into the Brabantse Biesbosch and the Hollandse
Biesbosch. Many bird species live here; including the sea eagle. The
otter and the highland cow have also made this area their habitat.
Visitors centers can be found in Dordrecht, Drimmelen and Werkendam.
De Biesbosch has a moderate maritime climate influenced by the North
Sea and the warm Gulf Stream. Summers are pleasantly warm with
temperatures just above 20 degrees Celsius. Winters may be bleak and
cold. Because this is a tidal area the water will not freeze over
rapidly. Precipitation figures are high here.

More climate information
Climate figures are very useful but don’t present a general impression
of the climate and the eventual weather circumstances within a certain
period. The figures don’t always reflect the chance of wintry weather,
extreme heat or hurricanes. That is why we offer useful extra climate
information for each month of the year:
