The climate of Hilversum (the Netherlands)
Hilversum is a village and a municipality located in the most eastern
tip of the province of North Holland in the ‘Het Gooi’ region. Het
Gooi is one of the earliest inhabited regions in the Netherlands.
Hilversum was founded in the 15th century. Nowadays the village has a
population of 80,000. Since the introduction of radio and television
Hilversum is known as a broadcasting city. Almost all of the
commercial and public broadcasters have their premises in the Media
Park in Hilversum. The Dutch Institute for Sound and Vision also has a
new building here. Hilversum has a moderate maritime climate
influenced by the North Sea and the warm Gulf Stream. Hilversum has
four distinct seasons. Winters are cold and bleak and longer periods
with subzero temperatures (during the night) are not uncommon. Summers
are pleasantly warm with temperatures just above 20 degrees Celsius on
average.

More climate information
Climate figures are very useful but don’t present a general impression
of the climate and the eventual weather circumstances within a certain
period. The figures don’t always reflect the chance of wintry weather,
extreme heat or hurricanes. That is why we offer useful extra climate
information for each month of the year:
