The climate of Landgraaf (the Netherlands)
Landgraaf is a small municipality in the south eastern part of the
province of Limburg. The municipality consists of one center which
consists of several small villages. The boroughs have been named after
these villages. Landgraaf is known for its pop festival Pinkpop. This
annual three day festival is one of the largest music festivals in the
Netherlands and attracts 60,000 visitors per day. During some acts the
crowd jumps up and down so enthusiastically it causes measurable
earthquakes. Despite its easterly situation in the interior Landgraaf
has a moderate sea climate slightly influenced by the North Sea and
the warm Gulfstream. Because the town is located in the southern part
of the country temperatures are 1-2 degrees higher on average than in
the more northerly located places in the Netherlands.
