The climate of Nelson (New Zealand)
Nelson is the geographical centre of New Zealand. It makes for a pleasant stay after a long and adventurous holiday. Several of the most beautiful beaches of New Zealand can be found here. Among them are Tahuna Beach and Rabbit Beach. Because Nelson has the most hours of sunshine per year the beaches are pleasant to stay on. Many activities for the more active people can be enjoyed here such as paragliding, mountain biking, hiking and rafting. Several of the most beautiful national parks in New Zealand are within a stone’s throw. Nelson has a sea climate. From November to March you can expect pleasant weather with temperatures around 25 degrees Celsius on average. From April to October the weather is much colder with temperatures below 10 degrees Celsius on average. Because Nelson is located on the coast lots of precipitation can be expected during the winter.

More climate information
Climate figures are very useful but don’t present a general impression of the climate and the eventual weather circumstances within a certain period. The figures don’t always reflect the chance of wintry weather, extreme heat or hurricanes. That is why we offer useful extra climate information for each month of the year:
