The climate of Queenstown (New Zealand)
Queenstown is the capital of extreme sports of New Zealand. The inventor of bungee jumping installed his first bungee cord here. The whole year round you can enjoy all sorts of activities that will give you an adrenaline kick. During the summer you can enjoy rafting on the nearby rivers of Dart, Shotover and Kawarau or wake boarding on Lake Wakatipu. During the winter months Queenstown transforms into a true winter sports place. During these months you can enjoy the ski tracks of the beautiful Remarkables mountain range. Everything in Queenstown is directed to extreme sports. Many tour operators offer several activities. The city is filled with hostels, apartments, cafés and restaurants. All of this attracts many tourists to Queenstown and makes the city have a nice atmosphere. Queenstown is located inland and because of this weather is less influenced by the sea. Subzero temperatures in the mountains are not uncommon. In the lower parts temperatures are pleasant. During the winter subzero temperatures in the lower parts are uncommon. The influence of the nearby lake is too big for subzero temperatures. During the summer months the weather is sunny and temperatures of 30 degrees Celsius are not uncommon.

More climate information
Climate figures are very useful but don’t present a general impression of the climate and the eventual weather circumstances within a certain period. The figures don’t always reflect the chance of wintry weather, extreme heat or hurricanes. That is why we offer useful extra climate information for each month of the year:
