The climate of Puerto Cabezas (Nicaragua)
Puerto Cabezas is a municipality in the north-west of Nicaragua on the Caribbean. The municipality is also known under the name of Bilwi, which has been the official name of the town since the nineties of the last century. Puerto Cabezas is the capital of the Región Autónoma del Atlántico Norte (RAAN), an autonomous area in the north-east of Nicaragua. Puerto Cabezas is known for its beautiful abundant market-places where all the local specialities are sold. Bilwi is known for its delicacies inspired on coconuts.
Puerto Cabezas has a tropical rainforest climate with much precipitation throughout the year. Only in March and April the average amount of precipitation is somewhat smaller here but it does not get completely dry. During the long warm days with much precipitation the air humidity increases considerably here and it feels very damp. The sea-temperature is always agreeable here. In the second half of the year there is a small chance of tropical storms or hurricanes.
