The climate of Bushmills (Northern Ireland)
Bushmills is a small city located in the northern part of Northern Ireland on the banks of the Bush River. Probably more famous is the whiskey that is distilled here. The Old Bushmills Distillery was established in 1608 and is the oldest licensed whiskey distillery in the world. According to legend there has been a distillery here since the 13th century, this will most probably have been an illegal one. The distillery is one of the most important tourist attractions in the country, attracting about 110,000 tourists every year. Another big attraction in the city are the 40,000 basalt pillars that are situated in the sea. These pillars have been a Unesco world heritage site since 1986. Bushmills has a moderate maritime climate; because of the influence of the Atlantic Ocean summers are cool and winters are mild. Because of this extremes in weather are uncommon. Most rain falls during the summer which may be very wet. Snow hardly ever falls. When it does fall it will rapidly melt.

More climate information
Climate figures are very useful but don’t present a general impression of the climate and the eventual weather circumstances within a certain period. The figures don’t always reflect the chance of wintry weather, extreme heat or hurricanes. That is why we offer useful extra climate information for each month of the year:
