The climate of Haugesund (Norway)
Haugesund is a large port located on the coast halfway between Bergen
and Stavanger. The city is a busy port, there is a lot of toing and
froing of ships. The city has been a port since Viking times. The
first Viking king decided to make this strategic city his residence.
Many festivals are held in Haugesund, such as the film festival. The
surroundings of Haugesund are very beautiful. One of the largest
waterfalls makes its way into a fjord in the vicinity of the city. The
lighthouses off the coast mark several beautiful islands and the
surroundings are ideal for walking. The area surrounding Haugesund has
high precipitation figures. The city has a mild climate strongly
influenced by the Atlantic Gulf Stream. There are only few differences
in temperatures between summer and winter. During the summer
temperatures are around 20 degrees Celsius. During the winter
extremely low temperatures are uncommon.
