The climate of Stavanger (Norway)
Stavanger is located in the southwestern part of Norway. Many cosy small streets with authentic white wooden houses can be found in this beautiful old city. Several cultural activities and festivals are held here. Besides shopping and enjoying the beautiful city Stavanger is also situated in one of the most beautiful regions in Norway. The Lyse Fjord is one of the most beautiful fjords in Norway and the beaches of Stavanger are exceptionally beautiful. The fjord can be explored by boat and on foot. Walking may be quite difficult here but the view at the end from ‘the prekestolen, or pulpit rock’, which is a rock hanging over the fjord, is very worthwhile. Stavanger has high precipitation figures, especially during fall. Temperatures are quite constant all year round. During the summer temperatures are about 18 degrees Celsius on average. During the winter temperatures below -1 degrees Celsius are uncommon. Because of its situation on the leeward side and the influence of the sea there are hardly any extremes in temperatures.

More climate information
Climate figures are very useful but don’t present a general impression of the climate and the eventual weather circumstances within a certain period. The figures don’t always reflect the chance of wintry weather, extreme heat or hurricanes. That is why we offer useful extra climate information for each month of the year:
