The climate of Gwadar (Pakistan)
Gwadar is a small port on the Arabian Sea located in the southwestern part of Pakistan in the vicinity of the border with Iran. The city is situated in the province of Balochistan in the Gwadar district. Gwadar is a planned city and has been founded on the site of a former small fishing village. This is because of its tactical situation on the Arabian Sea in the vicinity of the Gulf of Oman. The city is an important port for Chinese-flagged merchant shipping and is part of the so called ‘string of pearls’. The city was built on a plain between two hills, this causes the city to have a protected climate on the leeward side. It offers picturesque views of small fishing boats with the hills in the background. Gwadar has a warm desert climate slightly influenced by the Arabian Sea. Precipitation figures are low, Gwadar gets about 100 millimeters of annual precipitation. Summers are warm. However, it doesn’t get as hot here as in places in the interior. Temperatures above 40 degrees Celsius are uncommon. Winters are cold. However, subzero temperatures are uncommon. The city does get hit by dust storms every once in a while. The temperature of the water is very pleasant all year round.

More climate information
Climate figures are very useful but don’t present a general impression of the climate and the eventual weather circumstances within a certain period. The figures don’t always reflect the chance of wintry weather, extreme heat or hurricanes. That is why we offer useful extra climate information for each month of the year:
