The climate of Vanimo (Papua New Guinea)
Vanimo is a village located in the north eastern part of Papua New Guinea not far from the border with Indonesia. The Indonesian town Jayapura is located just across the border. Vanimo is a popular surfing destination and is said to get the best waves in the country. Several resorts and hotels can be found in the village. Most tourists come here to enjoy the sun and the waves. Vanimo has an airport with frequent flights to and from the capital Port Moresby and Wewak. Vanimo has a tropical rainforest climate with temperatures around 30 degrees Celsius all year round. This type of climate is characterized by high humidity figures and high precipitation figures. Precipitation figures are constantly high. However, slightly lower precipitation figures can be recorded from June till August. Because of the large amounts of rain that fall the sun shines less frequently. Because of this temperatures are slightly lower. Directly on the coast a cooling sea breeze blows.

More climate information
Climate figures are very useful but don’t present a general impression of the climate and the eventual weather circumstances within a certain period. The figures don’t always reflect the chance of wintry weather, extreme heat or hurricanes. That is why we offer useful extra climate information for each month of the year:
