The climate of Lódz (Poland)
Lódz is located in central Poland. During the 19th century the textile industry flourished here. There are many silent witnesses to this period. Many beautiful Art Nouveau buildings can be admired. The city suffered a lot during WWII. 34% of the inhabitants were Jewish before the War. After the War the city became the film capital of Poland. The Polish film academy can be found here. Other attractions are: Poitrkowska Street, which is the longest shopping street in the world, Muzeum Sctuki, which is a museum for modern art and Luna Park. Lódz has a moderate continental climate. The Baltic Sea has little influence on the climate. There are large differences in temperatures between summer and winter. During the winter most precipitation falls in the form of snow. Winters are very cold with temperatures dropping far below freezing point. During the summer temperatures may be high. A little less than in Mediterranean countries, but still high.

More climate information
Climate figures are very useful but don’t present a general impression of the climate and the eventual weather circumstances within a certain period. The figures don’t always reflect the chance of wintry weather, extreme heat or hurricanes. That is why we offer useful extra climate information for each month of the year:
