The climate of Caniço (Portugal)
Caniço or Caniço de Baixo is a city located in the Santa Cruz municipality in the southeastern part of the main island Madeira of the autonomous Madeira region. Caniço is a young city that was only granted the status of city in 2005. Caniço is one of the most popular tourist centers on the south coast of Madeira. The city is connected to the beach by several roads and is located only a few kilometers east of Funchal. Caniço is very popular among divers; a diving center can be found here.
Caniço has a warm maritime climate sometimes referred to as a subtropical climate. this climate type is characterized by the slight differences between summer and winter and most precipitation falls during the winter. Extremes in weather are uncommon because of the influence of the Atlantic Ocean. However, when the so-called Leste wind supplies dry and warm air from the Sahara temperatures may rise above 30 degrees Celsius.

More climate information
Climate figures are very useful but don’t present a general impression of the climate and the eventual weather circumstances within a certain period. The figures don’t always reflect the chance of wintry weather, extreme heat or hurricanes. That is why we offer useful extra climate information for each month of the year:
