The climate of Saint Leu (Réunion)
Saint Leu is a small but popular seaside-resort in the west of
Réunion. Therefore in Saint Leu there are plenty of sights to be found
such as the salt-pans of La Pointe-au-Sel. But most people come here
for the many watersport activities that can be pursued here.
Particularly deep-sea diving and sailing are very popular here. Saint
Leu belongs tot the best surf-spots in the world and therefore world
cup contests are regularly held here. Besides tourism this town
particularly lives by agriculture. Just like the rest of Réunion,
Saint Leu has a tropical monsoon climate with sunshine throughout the
year. The cold season is from May to October. The warm season, from
November till April, is the period in which the most hurricanes and
rain-showers occur. Due to its sheltered situation behind a range of
hills there is on an average less rainfall here than in the more
eastern places.

More climate information
Climate figures are very useful but don’t present a general impression
of the climate and the eventual weather circumstances within a certain
period. The figures don’t always reflect the chance of wintry weather,
extreme heat or hurricanes. That is why we offer useful extra climate
information for each month of the year:
