The climate of Butare (Rwanda)
Butare is located in the southern part of Rwanda in the Huye district in the South Province. The city used to be known as Astrida, named after the Queen of Belgium. Butare is known as the cultural center of Rwanda. Both the national university and the national museum of Rwanda can be found in this city. Butare has a tropical monsoon climate with two rainy periods during the first and last months of the year. The summer is the driest season. However, precipitation is not uncommon during the summer. Average daytime temperatures are about 25 degrees Celsius (77 degrees Fahrenheit). Nights are much cooler with average temperatures of 13 degrees Celsius (55.4 degrees Fahrenheit).
