The climate of Al Hofuf (Saudi Arabia)
Al Hofuf is a large city located in the eastern part of Saudi Arabia in the Al Hasa Oasis in the east province of Saudi Arabia. This oasis and province have been inhabited since prehistoric times. With more than three million palm trees the Al Hasa desert has the largest oasis in the world. The city is also situated in the vicinity of the largest oil fields in the world. The city has its own airport and can be reached by train from several other cities. In Al Hofuf a palace can be found dating back to the Ottoman era as well as the Hofuf fortress. Despite its situation in an oasis Al Hofuf has a desert climate with hot summers and extremely mild winters. Summers are extremely hot with temperatures above 40 degrees Celsius on average. During the night temperatures drop to just below 30 degrees Celsius. Precipitation figures are low all year round. Most precipitation that does fall, falls during the winter. Winters are very mild. Temperatures below 10 degrees Celsius are uncommon.
