The climate of Málaga (Spain)
Malaga is the largest city on the Costa del Sol and is among the five largest cities in Spain. The city is located in the southern part of Spain in the Andalusia region on the Mediterranean Sea in the vicinity of the Strait of Gibraltar. It is an old city which was under the rule of the Romans, Visigoths and Moors before it was conquered by the Catholics. Remains of the Moorish period can still be found here. A nice example of this is the Arab fortress which dates back to the 11th century. Just like other cities on the Costa del Sol Malaga has a Mediterranean climate with warm and dry summers and mild and wet winters. Subzero temperatures can only be recorded once or twice per century. During most days minimum temperatures are 20 degrees Celsius (68.0 degrees Fahrenheit). Summers are warm but not muggy, unless a Terral wind blows. This föhn wind may cause temperatures to rise to or even above 40 degrees Celsius (104 degrees Fahrenheit) causing it to be unpleasantly warm in Malaga.

More climate information
Climate figures are very useful but don’t present a general impression of the climate and the eventual weather circumstances within a certain period. The figures don’t always reflect the chance of wintry weather, extreme heat or hurricanes. That is why we offer useful extra climate information for each month of the year:
